My husband and I have been putting in some elbow grease to update our rental kitchen. Nothing a little paint can’t take care of! We also cleaned up the counter tile grout with a stain (changed from a terra cotta color to white). Much better!
All paints by Sherwin Williams: walls are Mindful Gray, upper cabinets are Snowbound, lower cabinets are Caviar

I adore this dreamy photo. Hair blowing in the wind and not a care in the world.

When I was a fashion design student at The Savannah College Of Art And Design, one of our first projects was to create a garment out of everyday objects. I made a blazer and skirt from white envelopes and brass brads… wish I had a picture! The image above reminds me so much of that project. It’s from the 1930’s and the woman is wearing a dress made of grapefruit peels. Is that not amazing?! The dress celebrated the beginning of harvest in the fertile Rio Grand Delta. I bet it smelled quite lovely too.

I am in awe of artist Mark Demsteader. His contemporary figurative works are both haunting and sultry. I may just have to create a few jewelry pieces for the Luxe shop inspired by these lovely ladies…

I’ve been collecting art and vintage botanical prints for a few years now. Most of the pieces have a nature theme and I love the look of them grouped together. I decided to choose my favorites and try my hand at creating a frame collage wall this past weekend. I purchased the frames from Ikea and Aaron Brothers, then used this fantastic template trick via Young House Love to lay out the design and hang each piece. Most of the artwork was found on Etsy, including the antique botanicals. The large prints on either end are by Lab Partners. The gorgeous driftwood mirror in the center was a splurge and is by the artist Ben Forgey. My husband and I are really happy with the final look and like that we can easily swap out the pieces whenever we want a change. What ideas do you have for creative wall decor?

I was recently on the hunt for an affordable Pouf Ottoman. Love the casual style but they are so expensive! I ended up purchasing a pair of Knitted Poufs from World Market in the color teal (now sold out but available in other colors). Love them! Great price and quality. I use mine in front of our couch and they work as ottomans, stools, coffee tables, extra seating… very versatile! If you are feeling crafty, I stumbled upon this neat tutorial to make your own moroccan style sewn pouf (shown above).
